Day 24 – We had FUN

Today we had our morning lessons, we learnt about leadership and we were shown two movies, after which we were ask to write about the leadership skills shown respectively in the two movies.

After lessons, we had about ½ hour left to prepare ourselves before we set off for the BBQ with the local students. We were really thankful that the local students actually got most of the food prepared for us, they did the purchasing of food and they carried all the way to the hostel so that they could fetch all of us to the BBQ area.

The walk to the BBQ area was kind of far, it was a little further compared to where we used to jog, but since the weather was kind of cooling, it didn’t bother us that much. We had lots of fun, laughing and joking around thanks to Edward and YuChuan singing their self compose San Ge.

When we have finally reached the BBQ area, we had a cloth set aside for all our bags and we had food set aside on different tables. There seem to be different sections for the food, they had the vege area where the girls help with the handling of vege, the meat area, where the guys help with the poultry, and there is the snack and drinks corner where everyone help themselves with.

After we are done with the BBQ, we headed to a place behind the BBQ area; we name it the Community Centre where they have lots of sports available for us to play with. We played BASKETBALL! A sport which I have missed a lot, we played friendly matches, and we had lots of fun especially with most of us being so hyper! And after a basketball match, I played badminton with Sheila. As expected Sheila was really good in badminton haha, and lastly, we played Pool.

After playing and enjoying ourselves for 2-3 hours, we decided to head back to the hostel, even though I wished that we could play a little longer (: but since the sky was already turning dark, it would be best if we head back to the hostel. At around 7pm, we went for our dinner at Duo Luo Jie again.

Reflection:

For today, I realized that the way they does BBQ in China is kind of different from the way we BBQ in Singapore.
In Singapore, we are used to having BBQ in the night, but over here in China, they have their BBQ in the afternoon. Also in China, when they BBQ they would add in lots of seasoning like salt, chili powder, oil and seasoning powder, well it might be because they prefer food with heavier taste.
And there was one thing which I found pretty interesting, they actually BBQ cucumber, cabbage, mushroom and sweet potatoes! In Singapore, I guess what we always see on the BBQ stove would be meat, meat and meat. Its healthier over here in China, despite the fact that they love to put heavier seasoning to the food.
