Day 18 – Knowing more about Wuhan

Today was a relaxing day for me, we had lessons in the morning which ended at around 11 plus , after so we headed to Ling Meng Le for lunch. It has been long since we went there, and so we decided to order the TePan beef, the signature Tomato Egg, mushroom chicken, Vegetable and 4 bottles of drinks. The meal cost us 13rmb($2.60) each, it really cheap though. Maybe one of the reasons the food were so cheap might be because they actually grow their own vegetables and so they could charge us a little lesser.
Our drinks

After lunch we headed back to the hostel, where everyone was given the whole afternoon to complete their blog. My roommates manage to finish up their work and we even had time to practice our dance (: It was around 6pm when we meet up with the other guys at the lobby before heading for our dinner. We all decided to take a walk down to MacDonald’s to have a simple meal.

Our fun only begins when we headed to the KTV near our hostel. Around 10 of us went to the KTV and we ordered 480rmb worth of food and drinks! The way they charge us over here is China is kind of different from the way we were charge in Singapore. Over here, the singing of songs was actually free, as we even got a room to ourselves with a toilet in it! And the way we chose our songs were also different, they would have a machine at the front of the room and whoever wants the song would have to go the front of the room to choose the songs. Nevertheless we had lots of fun and laughter in the room (: Especially when the guys sang the really old old songs and when the girls were asked to dance Nobody.

Oh! One more thing, I have finally received the bag which I have ordered from TaoBao ^^( a china website for online shopping). It’s really cheap as we would only have to pay around 32rmb($6.40) for a bag and that includes the delivery charge! Maybe because it is rather convenient for them and so the delivery charge was really little as compared if you were to order from Singapore.

Reflections:
While we were walking along the streets, it was kind of drizzling and the weather was pretty cooling. But what I realized was that the streets stalls were are still doing their business under the rain. Most of them were wearing a raincoat some were wearing caps. We seldom get to see such situation in Singapore, as most of the time whenever it rains, the stalls would have a built in shelter and so they would not have to be drenched in the rain. But over here, maybe due to cash constraints, most of the carts owner did not manage to have a built in shelter and so they could only use the simplest way to protect themselves as well as their goods by placing a plastic sheet over it.
I remembered there was this really old guy who pushed his cart passed us, he was around his 60s and he was pushing a while cart load of preserve food pass us. He managed to shelter his goods from the rain just by placing plastic covers onto the goods. He seem really strong for his age as he was actually pushing a cart pass us alone and the cart seem pretty heavy.

From such situation, I realized that it is the environment that could change a human. In a sense taking the raining situation for example, if it were raining outside and we do not have a built in shelter, most probably we would just packed up all of our stuff and stop our business for the day. But over here, they would really think of solutions so that it would be possible for them to carry on their business even under such bad weather. Well, it might be due to them wanting a better living condition and that is why they are always working so hard. But don’t you think we should learn such the spirit of not giving up from them?
