Day 3 – "Invading" our room

Today marks the first day of school, class start at 9am and ended around 11 plus 12. After so we headed to the canteen for our lunch, most of the stalls were already close and so most of us decided to settle our meal with Zha Jiang Mian. The way we make our payment for food over here in WUST is somewhat the same from the way we pay for our food in Singapore Kopitiam, we were given a card whereby we have to add in any amount of money into it before we are able to make the purchase of their food.

After our lunch, we decided to go to Duo Luo JIe to take a look at the environment since it was an hour before lesson start. When we were there, there aren’t many people yet as it was in the noon. Over there, they sell drinks like bubble tea, food as well as daily necessity. The stalls are set up along the road and it was a little cramp over there and so we had to be really careful by looking out for the coming vehicles if we do not want to be horn at.
Welcome to Duo Luo Jie ^^

We were given an hour break after our afternoon lesson to get prepared for our shopping sessions. We headed to a shopping mall which we named it China Paragon as the stuff they sell in there were really expensive. As we couldn’t afford those really expensive clothings, we decided to go to starbucks for our dinner and chit chat session (: We had a great laugh though

After we have settled our so called dinner we headed to WalMart, this was my first time visiting Walmart, I remembered there was once when I had to do a project on it but I have no idea what was WalMart. But now in my opinion, WalMart is somewhat similar to our Giant in Singapore, the difference is that it is MUCH bigger that Giant. They also sell their stuff in a different way, they actually leave their biscuit and sweets in really big containers, the customers were free to select and mix all the type of product they want and are charged by the weight of it.
They store their rice, sweet and biscuit in big containers

It was around 8.40pm when we left the shopping mall and headed back to our hostel by a public transport. This was my first time taking the public transport in Wuhan and what I realize was that the bus doesn’t have any doorbell, instead it would stop at every stop and everytime before the bus reaches a bus stop, it would make an announcement reminding the passenger standing at the doorsteps to be careful of door opening, this reminded me of our Singapore MRT. And it seem that they bus is always crowded, maybe it was due to peak hours but we could barely have a place to stand in the bus.

an unexpected journey

Reflection:
Before i came to wuhan, i have never notice how much effort it takes to make a house feel like a HOME, somewhere where you would feel happy to be in.
But today after going around WalMart, trying to get the daily necessities, trying to get the things we need and not the things we want, i realise diffcult it is to resist the temptation and spend within a budget amount. We have got to go round checking the price and decide again and again whether we are able to effort the items. So people, the next when you are going to the Super Market with your parents, dont complain about them walking up and down the aisle checking the price. Remember it takes ALOT OF EFFORT just to remember what are the things that they really need and what are the things which a purely their wants.
