Day 2 – Getting prepared for the new experience in WUST

Today was quite a relaxing day for me, had Macdonald delivery for breakfast and after so we had our so called orientation aka walking around campus, knowing where the class and where the canteen is.

Our Breakfast

Main Building

Our Classroom

Staff Room

Canteen

The weather was really HOT today and we had to get change before heading to the Super Mart which was really far from the campus. We had about 20 minutes walk before we reached our destination, during the walk there are some things which I realized
• most of the people in Wuhan, man or woman, young or old uses bicycle and scooter as their mode of transportation
• In Wuhan there are really quite a number of old houses/buildings
• They are able to use the simplest and cheapest way to protect their property
• A interesting road sign

These are really old buildings

I didnt know glasses could be of such usage

DO NOT HORN SIGN

When I have reached the Super Mart, we went around looking for the stuff which we needed for our 5 weeks stay for example the pails, washing detergent, cup noodles, water, cloth and etc. These were the items that I would not have purchase when I was in Singapore that’s because there was always someone who could purchase it for the family. But today I actually have to go round looking for such item. This was really a brand new feeling (:

Journey to Super Mart

Time to SHOP

Oh ya! We didn’t know that we would have to bring along our own shopping bags when we are going to make a purchase and so… we ended paying for one plastic bag and carrying the pails back to our hostel. Even though this is kind of troublesome but on second thoughts its actually good as we are able to reduce the amount of wastage right?

to experience the new experience ^^

Reflections:
When I first arrived here in Wuhan, I thought that our hostel was really simple and that the rooms were lack of certain facilities. However when I walk past the WUST student hostel, I realize how fortunate we are. Over here we were only sharing the room with 3 of our roommates, we had air condition and we have a toilet to ourselves but for them they had to share the room with 6 students, their rooms there isn’t any air condition and that they have to share a common toilet with the rest of the other dorms mate. So people over in Singapore, remember you guys are really fortunate kids, so do not things for granted, be appreciative.

  1. Hi Eliza, this is Lim Choon Boo, the Mentor for Group D. Just to add that I like the captions that you add to your photos. It adds more information to the picture and your stay in Wuhan. Perhaps, you may also like to add a paragraph on "SELF-REFLECTIONS" in your blog. This would help in understanding what you have observed, compared, evaluated and analysed the differences or similarities of various practices in China and Singapore. Enjoy your stay in Wuhan and take care. Regards, Lim Choon Boo
